vomiting or excessive laxative taking (purging). Symptoms
of eating disorders based on bingeing and purging include
the following:
· Excessive concern about weight and shape and
obsession with food
· Consuming large amounts of food with little
visible weight gain
· Rushing to the restroom after meals to purge
· Chronic sore throat and eroded teeth enamel
· Vomiting, laxative abuse or excessive exercising
Compulsive Eating
Compulsive eating disorders include overeating or binge
eating of a certain type of food. Symptoms of eating
disorders based on compulsive eating include the following:
· Excessive concern about weight and shape and
obsession with food
· Consuming large amounts of food when not physically
hungry
· Eating as a reaction to feelings of stress,
conflict and daily problems
· Experiencing a "high" feeling after
overeating, followed by feelings of guilt
· Chronic dieting and/or weight fluctuations
